Shulkers give empty spawn egg when middle-clicked

What did I do:
I looked at a Shulker and clicked the middle click button in order to pick up it's spawn egg.

What did I expect:
I expected for a Shulker spawn egg to appear in my inventory.

What did happen instead:
I got a white, empty spawn egg.
