Stone Axe damage of 9

I don't think this Stone Axe is supposed to have 9 attack damage...

Yes they are. They are slow but hit hard.

Well, this case is reopened due to the fact that Diamond and iron axes have the same attack damage...

Wooden and gold axe have 7 attack damage... Iron and diamond ones have 9... So...

I've reopened it just to have an official confirmation from the devs.
They're balanced on swing time.

You think? I think they just messed up the damage values

Whoever made this bug work as intended, are you sure? I don't think stone axex should have 9 attack damage, and iron and diamond ones....

Wooden axe should have 5, stone 7, gold 6.5? iron 9 and diamond 11 attack damage

sigh

Reopened, let's just let Mojang decide.

I was just asking... But I don't think an stone axe should be as op as a diamond one...

First of all, I'll do another round of balancing before 1.9 is done.

Secondly, this works as intended. The idea is that axes are strong and slow, and better materials make the axes faster. Swords are always faster, so better materials make them stronger.

In many combat situations the stone axe is as effective as a diamond sword, but the sword has the sweep attack, better combat durability, and better combat enchantments.

Ditto Slash
