Food is not consumed when aiming at fences

Attempting to eat food does not work when looking at a fence.

To replicate:
1. Run around until food level is somewhat depleted.
2. Place some fences.
3. While aiming at a fence block, equip a food item and try to eat it.

I expected to eat the food, but instead, my character seemed to try to "place" the food on the fence. It looked like the same animation as when planting seeds or placing torches.
