Sometimes the Elytra wings dont glide

Fall four or more blocks to glide.

I think I know what this issue is. It's not sometimes, I think it's whenever you go through the end gateway in the End, it disables your flight until you go back through the gate or exit the End.

I didnt go to the end, I just grabbed it from creative mode

Same happened to me. Doesn't glide, got them from creative (stopped after a certain amount of time).

Can confirm for 15w42a. Elytra stopped working after I threw an ender pearl into an end gateway. Returning to the overworld fixed the issue.

I have the same issue in 15w51b, but I don't have to jump from a high place. It just stops working completely, just negating fall-damage most of the time.

I, too, ran into this problem in 15w51b. I logged into my world in Creative with the Elytra already equipped (and used, but not by much) and glided into my End portal. It worked fine, until I manually flew into the End gateway; then the Elytra stopped working entirely. Saving & quitting, then logging back in seems to fix it; but then I walked back into the gateway and it happened again.

This bug has been a problem for me too, ever since elytra were first introduced.
Mojang has to fix this before releasing 1.9 complete.
Otherwise, they'll be many deaths by crashing (Overworld/Nether), burning (Nether), or falling (The End)! It's not fair to lose these elytra when it's not your fault! 😞

It also doesn't work in 1.9 pre 4 and it is bugging me, however for me it won't work at any height.

Is this still the case in the pre-releases after the activation change?

it works too on 1.9.2 and 1.9.3 snapshots

I can use Firework Rocket, but it doesn't propell me, nor do I glide.

I've had this problem for several versions. I was using the Elytra for about an hour without problems, and then suddenly, it just stopped working. I destroyed my Elytra and got a new one, and still nothing. This literally was just 10 minutes ago. I have my game fully updated to the latest version. Other people in my realm have had the same problem.

Is this still a issue in the latest version of the game(currently 1.13.1)?
