I spawned a Witherboss next to a moving minecart (actually I spawned the Wither in water but I could have used gamerule mobGriefing false) So after I spawned the Witherboss I expected it to go into the minecart, like it used to do in snapshot 13w04a and before.
Instead the Witherboss did not go into the minecart, not even when I pushed the minecart into the wither / pushed the wither into the minecart.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Spawn a Wither. (use gamerule mobGriefing false for the explosion)
2. Build a minecarttrack close to the Wither.
3. Notice that the Wither does not go into the minecart.

I see, but I think this still should be fixed because it's really useful to transport Withers. For example, you can use the Wither to make a treefarm or you can make him mine. I think it's better to make it so that withers regenerate in minecarts.
I don't think the intention of the Wither is to use it for any kind of farms. So this way it makes it harder to do these farms.
Hmm I don't agree on that, you can still make these farms, it's just harder to get them at the right position without escaping. I think the REAL bug is that it doesn't generate health. So you shouldn't create another bug to 'fix' it. The Wither is the only mob now that can't ride a minecart which is not how it should be in my opinion.
Why should bosses be able to ride minecarts? They are bosses, they shouldn't have to do what the player wants them to do. I say that is reason enough for them not being allowed in minecarts.
Ah, so just not to make is easy to kill them on Survival by packing them into minecart, you disallowed Wither from riding ANY entities? (see MC-75585) This is not a good approach, you should also think about map makers who could use the riding feature for example to suspend Wither in the air, which they cannot easily do because of this.
That's the fix for MC-8487.
