I have been playing on 1.9 snapshots in a new world and just got to the end portal. I went through the end portal and it loaded the landing area in the end (obsidian floor and end stone walls) then the game crashed. I could see that the ender dragon had loaded in as the health bar appeared in the top of the screen. Once I moved around on the platform it crashed the game and went back to the launcher (version 1.6.48)

Thank you for the comment, not fully sure what you mean but looks like it may have been worth reporting..?
Following this bug post I have been able to get back into the save game and enter The End, there were some other issues with the End Portal though but not sure if this was related to the above issue so I haven't logged it separately... Basically, it seems unless I go to the exact place I hit the End Portal to go to the end, I get teleported to the void. If I go to the same place it works and I get to land!
It seems like the "Level game mode" property of your save don't exist or your save was corrupted. The missing property could be caused by a bug.
