Playsound's Sounds do not Play Properly

I typed this command into the chat, but it doesn't seem like it is playing anything.

/playsound random.successful_hit @a ~ ~ ~ 1 0 0

It should go "ding!", but no "ding!" sound is heard whatsoever.
