I encountered the same problem on that version of server.
Other people on the server are able to enter the End just fine, but whenever I go in the portal, I spawn away from the island in the middle of the air.
This leads me to believe that this bug may be player and world sensitive. Maybe the game assigns different spawn points to different players. Maybe someone broke the original platform and, instead of spawning me on a new platform like everyone else, it spawns me on the original, missing, platform. These are just ideas. I would highly appreciate this issue being resolved before the release, as it almost makes the game unplayable. I may be able to counter the issue by chucking a pearl upon spawning, but that's an unreasonable expectation.
I don't know how many people have had this issue, I may vaguely recall one other person struggling with this on the server (keep in mind, this is out of less than a dozen people who've spoke of going to the End).
I've entered the same portal 3 times, the first was with a partner, who stepped in while I jumped in. My partner was safely spawned while I fell. The second time, I jumped in again and the third I stepped in. All times I fell to the void.
