I have searched & found earlier posts about this but they were marked 'duplicate' and did not have a real solution.
My first real bug-report here.
Lava does not update quick enough, As you can see in the attachment, I've build a 'lava-gate' the pistons block off the source blocks, which stops the flow, you'd expect, but the status as you see now has already been after around 2 days waiting for the lava to go away.
I've read the 'realism' argument, but a pillar of lava does not stay like this.. it would at least drop to ground level.
I would like to hear from someone who actually knows what the status of this problem is, and if there is a solution coming.
I hope my post will help others like me who are looking for a solution.

Actually, as argued (by me) in the MC-4631, while there is an intention to have slower decay than flowing in, there seems to be also a bug that makes to decay multiple orders slower than probably was intended. Details in that other issue's comments.
Duplicate of MC-9090. Also works as intended. See wiki here (under Flow) for details.
