Fixed in 1.9.3

I'm running on 1.12.1, and still having this issue. I can play in the overworld just fine, but when I initially enter the nether, my fps drops from around 120 to 2 for about 5 seconds, then returns to a normal level and I can continue playing in the nether without issue. I have an AMD fx-8150 8 core processor and the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, running on Windows 10.

Very same issue....if you find a fix let me know [email protected]

I can confirm this is still happening in 1.12.2 and 18w19b. When entering the Nether game halts for about 5-10 seconds before returning to normal. I attached 2 logs but if you need different information please let me know how I can assist.

Increasing render distance (yes, increasing) seems to lessen the effect of the lag spike. My uneducated guess is that the client is doing some very taxing lighting calculations and by increasing the render distance it's doing those same calculations but spread out over a longer period of time instead of all at once bringing your fps to a halt.
