Blindness and Lava don't mix

When inflicted with Blindness, traveling under lava will allow you to see through lava's overlay as if it wasn't there.

That's actually not such a bad bug, considering in normal survival you'd be dead.

Might be a useful thing to exploit for adventure maps and the like. Some ultra-overpowered potion effects topped with blindness and away you go.

Looks like an alpha transparency bug. Hard to fix, I'd think, without causing too much fps drop.

You can also just do this without blindness. You can just make a hole in the wall and swim to it then look back into the lava river. You can easily survive this with a fire resistance potion.

See you can even do it without blindness.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

I forgot how to craft a blindness potion, as it isn't in creative inventory.

That's why I'm asking as blindness is only available through 3rd party tools.

The one without blindness is a bit tricky though... I can only reproduce it without blindness by semi-submerging in lava... otherwise I get the overlay.

So has blindness any editional effect when in lava or is it the same as MC-3615?

migrated

You don't need to be partially submersed in lava for the blindness method to work. Different bugs.

Ok thanks for the clarification, but please try to verify if it still works in the current version and update the affected versions accordingly.

I believe that's intended behavior, just like night vision underwater.
