previously (1.8.x) sitting in a moving minecart, one can throw snowballs in addition to using a bow and arrow, to hit a target without damaging it significantly (such as nametagged pigmen in a gold farm) in order to aggro the rest
I am not certain how long the bug has existed in the snapshots but I noticed it several versions back from the version herein reported.
bow and arrow still work as expected, but one cannot even throw a snowball straight upwards from within a minecart.
after some additional testing, i discovered I could occasionally make it work, but not repeatably.

I do not believe so, as I have not noticed an inability to fire arrows while in a minecart, and certainly during my testing that was one of the things I tried – I did not notice the behaviour mentioned in that ticket: the minecart did not break when I fired arrows from it, AND arrows successfully reached their target when fired from within a minecart.
this may be related to MC-96269
Still confirmed for 1.9 release. Need a 2 block distance above the Minecart to throw a snowball out of it or it will instantly break. dose not work if you have only a one block space with a block above you.
