Minecraft crashing when creating a singleplayer world or joining a 1.9 multiplayer server

Since 1.8.9 I have been unable to open or create singleplayer worlds. I am also unable to join 1.9 multiplayer servers. Whenever I create a singleplayer world or join a 1.9 server, my game instantly crashes. I have done the following to try to fix the issue:
-Installed 64 bit Java
-Updated all graphics card drivers
-Uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft
-Created a new dump file through task manager

I am unable to play 1.9 and this is really frustrating me!!
