Pistons don't work like they did in 1.8.9

In 1.8.9 did I build duble piston extenders wich extend and the retract. I did build it like the first picture below and it did work fine.

But in 1.9 the sticky piston (the lower layer) don't take the regular piston (upper layer) with it) as on the second picture below.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. build a vertical duble piston extender as on the picture (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U01USXKFpU)
2. try it in 1.8.9
3. try it in 1.9
