Minecraft Freezes During Launch

When launching minecraft lately, it has frozen after login with the screen appearing with 'Updating Minecraft' and below it 'done loading' with the green loading bar at the end. After 5 minutes the screen goes blank. Cannot retrieve any crash reports and this only happens every second launch of the game. Java and other programs are all up to date, no mods are installed and two texture packs are in the Minecraft texture pack folder. Mostly play on servers in creative/survival.
