Some minecraft instances can't see LAN games after upgrading to 1.9

After upgrading my family's Minecrafts to 1.9, we can no longer consistently see LAN games in the local server list. My son can see my wife's game when she opens to LAN, but I cannot. My wife cannot see my son's when he opens to LAN. I cannot see either of their games.

Directly connecting to the ip address and port does work.

If I run Wireshark, I see the UDP broadcast packets, and can even grab the port number thereby and connect. It therefore seems to be a Minecraft/Java issue, not a network/OS issue.
