[PS5] Player 2's Existing Character Not Showing in Offline Local Co-op After Update

Platform: PlayStation 5
Game: Minecraft Dungeons II
Mode: Offline Local Co-op (2 Players)
Accounts: Two separate PS5 user profiles
Status: Still unresolved as of November 2, 2026

Description

After installing a recent game update, my friend's existing character no longer appears when joining my offline local co-op session as Player 2.

We both have our own separate PS5 user profiles on the same console.

Before the update, everything worked perfectly. I could launch the game using my PS5 profile (Player 1), and my friend could join the local co-op session using their own PS5 profile (Player 2). Both of us could access our existing characters and continue our progress normally.

However, after the update, my friend's character no longer appears when joining my game as Player 2.

The important detail is that my friend's character has NOT actually been deleted.

When my friend launches Minecraft Dungeons II directly using their own PS5 profile as Player 1, their original character, levels, and progression are still there.

The problem only occurs when my friend joins my game as Player 2 in offline local co-op.

This strongly suggests that the update introduced a bug affecting how existing characters are loaded from separate PS5 user profiles during local co-op sessions.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Have two separate PS5 user profiles (Account A and Account B) on the same PS5 console.

  2. Launch Minecraft Dungeons II using Account A as Player 1.

  3. Start an offline local co-op session.

  4. Connect a second controller and join using Account B as Player 2.

  5. Observe that Account B's previously saved character is missing from the character selection screen.

  6. Exit the game and launch Minecraft Dungeons II directly using Account B as Player 1.

  7. Observe that Account B's original character and progression are still available.

Expected Result

When Account B joins Account A's offline local co-op session as Player 2, Account B should be able to select and use their existing saved character, just as before the update.

Actual Result

Account B's existing character does not appear when joining as Player 2, even though the same character is still available when launching the game directly from Account B's PS5 profile.

Account A's character works normally.

Additional Information

  • This setup worked correctly before the recent update.

  • The issue started immediately after updating the game.

  • Both players use separate, existing PS5 user profiles.

  • The missing character is still accessible in single-player mode under Account B.

  • The issue remains unresolved as of November 2, 2026.

Request

Please investigate and fix this regression in PS5 offline local co-op.

We have spent a significant amount of time progressing together, and now we cannot continue playing with our existing characters.

The save data still exists. The game simply fails to load Player 2's existing character when joining another PS5 user's local co-op session.

Please provide a workaround or a fix as soon as possible.

This is a serious regression introduced after the update and should be prioritized.

Why is the bug reporting website itself so buggy? My friend and I were really enjoying the game, but ever since the update, we haven't been able to play together at all. Please fix this as soon as possible!
