Launcher can't start if the .minecraft folder in appdata is a symlink

Tested both the Windows(alternative), and the installed file which seems to be the same actual exe.

No error messages, it just closes within a fraction of a second.

Removing the symlink allows the launcher to create a new .minecraft folder and start correctly.

  • Symlinking to local files seem to work as intented.

  • Symlinking to locally mapped drives pointing to paths on other hosts, also seem to work as intended.

  • Symlinking to UNC path's though, could be reproduced. This particular use case was caused by not stripping away the absolute path before the UNC parts begin.
