After updating to macOS Catalina, Minecraft Launcher is using excessive system resources. MacBook fan kicks on high shortly after Minecraft launches, Activity Monitor shows launcher using 99% CPU at minimum. Game is playable but fan noise is excessive and continuous. Force-quitting the Minecraft Launcher resolves issue, and I can play normally after quitting the launcher (is it SUPPOSED to stay open after launching Minecraft?) This behavior was not observed at any time prior to OS upgrade.

It's not just MacOS 10.15 Catalina; the launcher uses 100% CPU on earlier versions too (MacOS 10.13.6). This occurred on my system when the launcher auto-updated to version 2.1.7659. This is definitely an issue, (one of several), with the new latest launcher.
Same issue on Linux. I'm using Manjaro with kernel 5.3.7. I installed launcher from AUR linked on minecraft.net
[media]Same issue on Linux Mint 19.2 ( https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-12203 )
Same problem here, the computer heats up extensively because the launcher is using at least 99% of CPU.
