When opening Minecraft Launcher on Ubuntu, the launcher window can be seen but can't be opened

To simply recreate this bug, right click (or left click to immediately open it) on the minecraft launcher icon and press New Window, the orange circle appears next to the launcher icon on the tool bar and when right clicking it can be seen that the window is open. Pressing All Windows, you can see that the window is just a black screen. Clicking it to open it does nothing. and you can not launch minecraft through the launcher. This occurred after updating the launcher and before updating, the launcher window opened immediately.

There was a new version of the launcher released just today. Can you check whether the issue still persists?

Sounds like MCL-12341

Problem still seems to persist after re downloading the launcher

Have you tried the workaround in MCL-12215? Run the launcher like this:

GDK_BACKEND=x11 ./minecraft-launcher
