Minecraft won't start- Game ended with bad state (exit code 1)

Hi, I recently updated to the latest version of Minecraft, switching launcher.
Minecraft has worked fine for me up until switching to this new launcher.

I logged in and download the game without problem, but clicking the play button simply caused the launcher to disappear for a few seconds before popping up again.
