mincraft wont respond

Hello, my minecraft launcher will not work. it will load almost completely and then stop dead in its tracks, I already bought the game and set up a account and a username but then when it comes to actually pressing play and having the loading screen come up and fully load, that is were it has been messing up. I'm very confused with this because this has never been a problem on either of my bedrock edition accounts, but right when i try and set up java edition it messes up. I do not know how to fix this issue as this is my first java edition account and this is new to me so if anyone could share some experience and how they fixed this type of issue, that would be very helpful. the issue is exactly this: when I press play on the minecraft launcher the red mojang screen initially works fine but stops around 85%-ish, it stays there no matter what i have done if I try anything the windows file just says that it is not responding and then minecraft launcher says the game crashed and gives me exit code 0 and  then I do it over again and it still doesn't work. again, if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.
