I launch the game and immediately incur slowing and studding of computer and game.
Its takes a min of 30 seconds to have the task manager come up and a VERY slow mouse movement and is delayed 15-30 seconds. Force closing of the game take 3-4 minutes. Once the game is closed computer returns to normal. I have tried to set the game to use one CPU core and has no affect.
On my Win XP OLD computer * duel core* I have NO problems running this game.

Thanks but no go.
Here's the problem. I can bring up the launch window where I can put in my login name and PS but cant actually select anything in that window.
I know the program slows all response times so I have hit F3 and C for 3-4 minutes.. nothing happens i have to kill the program bring up the task manager before hand it a time saver
If you like I can video record what is happening to show you if that helps

If the launcher closes after game start, please edit your profile and select "Launcher visibility" then, "Keep the launcher open".
Upon launching the game the menu that pops up that has the update notes, development console .... i cant select anything from it.

Duplicate of MCL-464 - Reinstall Minecraft.
I dont have a save file or folder as I have not got this game to work on this computer.
minecraft.exe is the only thing in the folder. and its 661 Kb.
restarting Minecraft.exe does nothing different.
Reinstall Java.
Uninstall everything looking like Java from the control panel, then install Java 1.7 Update 40 from http://www.java.com/en/download/ .
Ok. uninstall all that was Java.
