Launcher gets smaller and smaller each time you open it, and it is related to the "height" and "width" values that keep changing in .minecraft/window_settings_launcher.conf file. I have attached a screenshot to show what I mean. The window size is still the same, but the actual launcher canvas that gets drawn gets smaller and smaller - with the rest of the space being filled by the window behind it. Tried reinstalling the game and launcher, but that did not help.

What are you talking about? You can very clearly see the launcher regresses inside it's own window, and the window gets more and more filled with whatever is behind it.
I had this issue too, and is not a bug of the launcher. For some reason the launcher is not fully compatible with elementary OS decoration (GTK3 CSD).
The fix is a little bit complicated, you need to run the minecraft launcher from this files gtk3-nocsd and the launcher will run properly (there's a small tutorial in file called readme). As a temporarly solution, I recommend you to use a third party launcher like Lunar Client or switch your linux distro. Have a nice day! :yellow_star:

Thanks for this! Currently I am using a snap called "mc-installer" which has the launcher locked in a January 2.2 version, the last known working launcher for most/all Linux distros. I will definitely check out other possibilities. Thank you once again!
I have the same problem. Same distro and version. I didn't realise it had been shrinking, just that there have been graphics issues for months. Today the rendered window ended up too small to do anything at all - looking in window_settings_launcher.conf I see the "height" and "width" values are both 1 now. I tried changing them to 1366x768 and the launcher became usable again, although it's now set "height" to 946 and "width" to 610.
I have just tried running it with gtk3-nocsd and it works great. Thanks for the workaround!
its just the window is filled and when that appends that no big deal
