[MCL-17719] Launcher won't open

My apple iMac running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6 won't open the Minecraft launcher. I go to finder and try to delete it it says it is already open. Every time I want to play Minecraft I have to go under the package contents and force open the launcher with the terminal.
