Bought the game and when I opened it up, the game launcher would not load.

Do you receive an error? What did it say?
Otherwise attach the crash report or log. The crash report is a text file located in the [.minecraft/crash-reports|https://minecrafthopper.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder/] folder named crash-date-client.txt. If not available attach the launcher_log.txt file.
download or update your Java it worked for me and it might work for you.
