I have the windows edition already downloaded on my computer however I can not open it through the launcher. When opening the launcher I only get the prompt to install it, and when I do it gets stuck on idle. Both the pause and cancel buttons do not work either. I have let it sit for over five hours and the issue still persists.

I just downloaded the Minecraft Launcher through the Xbox App and I ran across an issue. Whenever I try to download the Bedrock Edition (Minecraft For Windows), the download is stuck on Idle. I was able to download Java 1.17.1 without any issues though. Any help is appreciated. : Minecraft (reddit.com)
My computer is nothing special, no graphics card and no solid state drive. It's pre-owned and relatively new but very basic. I run Java ok but with some lag. Bedrock i own but can't download due to this problem.
I have a similar problem to OP. I've tried all the fixes recommended on the reddit page above to date (it's currently 10 Nov '21). This is the first time i've tried to download a Bedrock that I already own if that makes sense. the difference between me and OP is that i haven't used bedrock on this computer before. i think i have it downloaded but not installed.
