Having the folder in C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft point to a different drive using a symbolic link results in the launcher not opening.
The symbolic link will work if its located on the same drive

The issue was happeing on the ms store version of the launcer. I just setup a new junction link linking the folder to a seperate drive and it apperas to now be working as intended
