Howdy! I noticed when selecting Minecraft for Windows in my launcher, there is a button stating "Incompatible with launcher". My request is NOT to help with getting the game installed, but instead with the User Experience the launcher is presenting.
Specifically, there is no easily visible way for a user to know why the game is incompatible. I do see in MCL-21571 and a few others that the solution is that I have the "Windows 7/8 version" and I need to install the "Windows 10/11 version."
Here is the problem that needs fixing: How is any unskilled user supposed to know this? Indeed, as someone who's been in tech support and beyond for 20+ years, the only way I found out is by looking at the bug tracker. Googling the issue has people telling you conflicting info such as running the launcher as administrator or installing an old copy of the launcher. The ambiguity even presents itself when submitting a bug - the "Affects Version/s" selector has both "Windows" and "New Windows app" as if the average person knows what "new" means in this context.
What I'm getting at is that there should be something actually inside of the launcher telling you why there's an issue - a MUCH more clearly stated version ID, as well as the reason for incompatibility.
So please, if you would, accomplish these two things:
Make the difference between the Win 7/8 and Win 10/11 launchers completely obvious and unambiguous
Add an indicator such as "please use the launcher from the Microsoft Store" to the MC for Windows button, or just remove MC for Windows completely from the Win 7/8 launcher
Thank you for your report!
