Error! Launching the game failed! Failed to download file.

Hi! I can't get Minecraft to play. Every time it comes up with this message that says "Failed to download file". What's weird is it shows me a different file it couldn't load every time after I press play. I have tried to restart the launcher, I've reinstalled the launcher 3 times now and I've tried lots of other things to get it to work. It has nothing to do with my firewall or any mods, just the vanilla launcher. Doesn't matter what version of Minecraft I use either, it still doesn't work. Please help me find a fix! I've tried so many different things and it's driving me nuts!

Hi there!
Have you checked if the Launcher process appears at the task manager and then force quit it?
Could you try to reinstall the Launcher?

  • Save your worlds/skins/realms/etc. that are stored in .minecraft folder.

  • After deleting the Launcher, find .minecraft and delete the file - what is important that this file should be deleted from the trash bin, because corrupted files from the old .minecraft file may interact with the newly generated .minecraft file.

I couldn't find any crash reports but I do have the launcher log here.

@Barnos I have already tried redownloading the launcher 3 times now. I've also already tried deleting the .minecraft folder entirely. Still having the same problem.

Could you verify if you have installed the game on the same drive?
Have you installed games on different drive in the past?
