Launcher wont save set resolution in installations options.

I tried wiping minecraft off my pc uninstalling and reinstalling and the issue still occurs.
steps to reproduce
have current launcher version 2.3.508
Windows
Go edit a java installation and set any resolution.
Try to play minecraft. or restart the launcher
Result. Doesnt work. its back to the default.
Turns out it completely erases the setting in the .json profile settings file!
However it works if you manually edit the file to have the resolution line. and set the json file as read-only.
