I can't load the newest version of the game

In your launcher, choose "Edit profile" and make sure "Use latest version" is selected under "Version Selection → Use version:".
Then, click "Save profile" and report whether the problem persists or not.

Also, make sure you're downloading (and using) the latest launcher, not the latest server.
