Problems Loading Minecraft

So I wanted to see how the 2010 version of Minecraft was. So I opened the Launcher, created a new profile, and selected the most recent version of Alpha before Beta (sorry I forgot which exact version it is). I got bored of it, obviously, and so I wanted to go back to the most recent version of Minecraft which i think is 1.7.5. However, whenever I open the Launcher, there is a problem. I try to open the Launcher and it loads fine. Then it shows the screen where you can select your profile, read about the most recent version, etc. Instead of letting me change it to my regular profile, it redirects me to the very old Minecraft launcher. I have tried un-installing Minecraft and other stuff but whenever I open Minecraft it sends me to the very old Alpha Launcher. Please help!
