Install utterly broken for no discernible reason

When I attempt to install Minecraft for windows via the launcher, it fails and states "error" in the loading bar that usually indicates bootup/install progress. It gives me no other information, and even this doesn't always appear. What does always happen, however, is the install fails.

I have tried everything I can think of to fix this. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I have verified integrity of game files. I've reset and cleared data from the app. I've been through both the windows store and the xbox app to try to resolve this. I have checked for windows updates, checked for app updates on the windows store. I have even run a system scan from the command line, and run the troubleshooter for windows apps. I have found not a single detectable problem, nor does anything I try make a modicum of difference, and I still cannot play the exact same game that was working two days ago.

I wish I could give more information that might allow the error to be reproduced. I'm not even sure this is the right location to post such a problem, or if this even is a minecraft bug rather than a windows launcher bug. Either way, I just want to be able to play realms, which required an update (apparently) in order to play again, the entire reason I started trying to update my otherwise-perfectly-functional client. Please fix this. I am virtually positive by now it's not a problem with my computer.
