[MCL-2505] Launcher downgrades graphics?

Just the last two days, when I run the launcher, before it even pulls up the news and play button, my computer looks like it fell through a time warp and is now running on a 1980s machine that's on LSD. All icons are four times their normal size, the launcher is bigger than the screen, and my colors are inverted or something The pixels are so big I can see them without my glasses.
If I run Minecraft, it looks almost but not quite normal, and when I quit Minecraft my desktop goes back to normal, even thought the launcher is still running. I'm playing the latest snapshot, but that shouldn't matter if I haven't started the game yet. If this isn't a launcher issue, please tell me what kind of issue it is.

Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report ([minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/finding-minecraft-data-folder]) here.

Please update your Java to the latest 64 bit version (1.7.0_55 / 1.8.0_05): http://www.java.com/en/download/.

When using a 32-bit browser on a 64-bit operating system the automatic version detection will only show the 32-bit version of Java, the 64-bit version needs to be downloaded manually: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.

Thank you. I'd been having trouble with java saying it had an update for me, then when I went to download it, being told I already had the most up to date version. I saw a 'uninstall old version' and figured I must have an outdated version that was triggering the need to get upgrade, and used it. That's probably why my java started working weird. I must have uninstalled the 64 bit version since the 32 bit version was newer.
