Issue with Launcher not working after game crash and launcher restart

When I try to mod the game, or alternatively the game crashes, the launcher refuses to work after the crash even after restarting the launcher fully.

I am currently using CachyOS 6.15.7 with the Arch Linux AUR version of the launcher, to replicate the issue consistently, when trying to mod the game using Fabric 1.21.1, if there is a dependency missing it will bring up the error screen and tell you want mods are missing, and then exit after clicking the exit button, once this happens the launcher tries to reopen however instead of opening on the main menu like normal it gives me this screen instead. However restarting the launcher constantly brings up this screen and only a full system restart fixes the issue.

Hey and Thanks for Reporting to MoJira! This issue sounds frustrating and we dont have the recources to support modded versions of the Launcher. But im not a Mod YET (but i wanna be) so i can Help you. Here are my ideas:

  1. Reinstall the Launcher

  2. Restart your PC

  3. Restart the System

  4. Start the Launcher in “Debug Mode

  5. Check for incompatible Mods

Have fun -Toucka

How do i start the launcher in Debug mode?

Hey there! on the AUR, a comment said that “if .minecraft/webcache2/CEF_VERSION exists, then the launcher goes into the ‘whoops!’ menu”. Try that and see if it works, because it worked for me.

NOTE: If you’re using the KDE plasma browser integration, delete the file at /usr/share/chromium/extensions/cimiefiiaegbelhefglklhhakcgmhkai.json with the terminal. CMD:
sudo rm -rf cimiefiiaegbelhefglklhhakcgmhkai.json
(you need to remove it with the terminal because normal deletion does not have root privelleges, or something of the sort)

you will have to open the location in the terminal as well. to do this, simply type:
cd /usr/share/chromium/extensions or cd ~/usr/share/chromium/extensions (they do the same thing),
or you can simply open the location via the right-click menu in the explorer.
(Should’ve included this in the original message, but i don’t know how to edit messages)
