I can't craft and Missing folders

I can't craft and missing folders

I saw on the internet that I could craft using a crafting table, but when I put together actual crafts that I know are real, Nothing showed up. I tried to craft a chair but it simply just shows no end product.

1. Click on crafting table
2. Craft
3. No outcome of Craft

Also I was trying to download mods for my minecraft game and turns out I can't cause I have no minecraft files.When I type in minecraft in my finder, only the game comes up and no folders for the game. I even tried looking up the mods folder but it simply doesn't exist on my account.
