Minecraft launcher fails to load

The Launcher loads fine, but when I click "Play" it seems to be downloading 1.8.4.jar according to the status bar, then crashes, leaving me with this message in the Game Output section:

Error: Could not find or load main class net.minecraft.client.main.Main
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release

The last bit of my Launcher Log says:

Apologies for posting here if I've made an obvious error, but I have removed both Minecraft and Java, run registry cleaners and reinstalled from scratch several times without success, and spent 60 minutes searching for a solution without any success.

Can anyone help me?

Please attach the complete output of the "Game Output (Your Minecraft name) " which can be found on the fourth tab of the launcher.

Thank you.

The complete output from "Game Output (my minecraft name)" on the fourth tab is:

Error: Could not find or load main class net.minecraft.client.main.Main
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release

I wondered if there would be more information in the Launcher Log to help debug the problem (the end of which I put in the original post)

I have recently encountered something similar and cannot figure out what is causing it. I went away for a three day weekend and shut down my computer like any good nerd. When I got back, I booted it up, went to play/launch minecraft, and after the normal few seconds of thinking it simply opens the launcher again with the following. I've been searching around for a solution myself, but this is the only other place I have found with a similar issue.

Game Output tab:

I'm going slowly mad here. I am a professional IT who has spent several hours trying to install the game that I paid for, and then several more searching forums to try and troubleshoot the problem. I can find no way to communicate with the people who sold it to me as they seem to have decided to not allow direct interaction with customers via the website. When I posted my problem, I was asked to post the exact message that I had already posted, and my issue was marked 'Resolved' where it is not. When I open a second post in the hopes of having the issue address, it is marked as a Duplicate. Is there another mechanism to ask for technical support here??

For technical support please use the Mojang Support Center.
