New Launcher: "The game directory is invalid or inaccessible" without changing path of .minecraft folder

After the old launcher updated to the new one, starting any of my profiles yields the following error:

The game directory is invalid or inaccessible.
Error details: The system cannot find the file specified
Filename on disk: .minecraft
Path: C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
Exists: directory

This folder exists. Removing it and trying again results in the folder being created again, and the same error.

Clearly it's already accessing this folder because that's where the launcher has its profiles stored, so I'm not sure what it's complaining about.

I have this same bug too but i'm on Latest Windows 10 x64, the folder permissions are correct.

Same problem. My directory actually exists on a much larger drive than my C drive, but it's a directory junction and that's never mattered before. Maybe that's not it, but the directories are definitely there. We just played it like 4 or 5 days ago and it worked fine as usual. Windows 10 64-bit.

I forgot to mention that my Users folder is also a junction. It's been 4 years since I did that heh.
Old launcher had no issues though, and junctions should behave like any other folder. I don't see what the launcher could possibly do that's so special it'd break on a junction.
