What I expected to happen was...:
Minecraft launcher to give me my crash reports then start minecraft
What actually happened was...:
My launcher gets stuck in an endless "Preparing..." Loading bar and doesn't do anything else.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open launcher
2. Run the game

I was reading comments from other posts and found that downloading the old launcher works.

I have to play as I am an active staff member of a server.
I was told on the MC Chat help site that this would be resolved in 30 mins then come here to see that this has been going on for over 7 hours!
