"Failed to login: Bad Login" on locally hosted server for Minecraft Version 1.2.5 only

2/5/17 - Locally hosted Minecraft Server running 1.2.5 server jar, allowed external connection through appropriate port forwarding.

2/10/17 - No changes to Minecraft Server files/properties, updated to new launcher, resulted in "Failed to Login: Bad Login" statement for myself and friend trying to connect externally.

Important Note - I can connect to Minecraft Server in the latest release 1.11.2 when changing the client and server jars accordingly, The issue seems to be with Minecraft version 1.2.5.

Attempts to resolve issue:
Complete re-install of Minecraft Client - issue prevailed
Complete re-install of Minecraft Server - issue prevailed

Other Notes - Nothing else was updated other than the launcher between the instance on 2/5/17 and 2/10/17.

This is a request to reopen this issue because all Minecraft versions available in the launcher should be able to connect to their respective server versions.

This is not an issue with the old versions of Minecraft themselves. The issue lies with old versions when they are launched using the new launcher (2.0.806).

You can successfully connect to a server if you launch Minecraft using the old launcher or any 3rd party launcher.

Attempting to connect using the new launcher will return a 'Bad Login' error to the client if they are running Minecraft 1.6.4 or earlier.

This behaviour is observed whether connecting to a dedicated server in a data center or on the local machine.

It seems to me that the issue lies with the new Minecraft Launcher. Can we confirm if this behaviour is intended or not?

Thanks for your time.

I can confirm the above report. I was unable to connect using the new launcher however I was able to connect using the older launcher. This is a problem with the new minecraft launcher.

The issue persists. I am unable to use the new launcher to connect with older Minecraft versions.

The cause has been discovered, but nothing has been done to fix it yet.
