whenever I launch a seperate version other than already supplied mine craft versions like 1.8 it says failed to download file

Please tell me why it does this and how to fix
Please attach the version JSON for your version (located within %appdata%/.minecraft/versions). It is likely malformed, but we'd need to check. (You may need to re-download and -run the optifine installer, but we cannot provide support for this process; we can only check if the result should work)
Also, obligatory note: 1.8.9 is several years out of date, and is not supported. Please update to a newer version.
