[MCL-7644] When trying to launch Minecraft through the Minecraft launcher the game crashes.

The game crashes consistently even after reinstalling the game. No crash reports seem to appear either.

When launching the game I expect for it to launch Minecraft

I have this exact problem. I've made sure everything is updated as well and reinstalled the game. Might be important to note that I bought the game 2 days ago and it hasn't worked once, crashes after hitting play every single time.

I have had this problem since i installed the Windows 10 launcher about 10 days ago. I deleted Mine craft from my laptop and reinstalled but same problem occurred. The older launcher has worked for the last three years. Please correct issue or send instructions for installing old launcher.

I bought the game 3 days ago and have the same problem. Running Windows 10. Press to play but game crashes every single time, pop up reads.."An unexpected issue occurred and the game has crashed. We're sorry for the inconvenience" So this means the problem is with the site not my computer??? Gutted 😞

I think the problem might be a fatal error with java, I didn't get any indication of an error until I tried the alternative launcher download off of the Minecraft website but I couldn't run it because of a Java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError. I YouTubed a fix for this and it was suggested that --workDir %ProgramData%\.minecraft be paste into the target box under properties(right click minecraft, all the way at the bottom). Hit apply, ok, and start minecraft. My game finally seems to be working without any problems, I hope this helps some of you!

I have recently downloaded it and the same thing has happened, I had an email with the installation links exc and I updated my minecraft yet everytime I hit play it says 'an unexpected issue occurred and the game has crashed. We're sorry for the inconvenience' its really annoying me.. can someone just fix this problem already or give help.

Mine continues to hang at the point of building a new map. It never does, eventually stops responding and crashes. I tried the 'wordir' solution proposed above, but it doesn't work. The path is invalid; I can't find any corresponding directories looking around the Minecraft folder and subfolders. If Mojang won't address or fix this problem, I will demand my money back.

Reading it back now, my comment was a little unclear. Make sure to paste the workDir line after the text that is already in the target box. Hit space, and then paste the workDir line. If it's still unclear you can google a fix for the error I mentioned above and get better instructions, if your crashes aren't caused by the same error I don't know if this will help but it did help me so I figured it could be useful to post.

I uninstalled the newlauncher and downloaded the old launcher and it seems to be working fine as of now.

My problem was solved by installing java v8 and updating my graphic card firmware and reinstalling minecraft 🙂
