Expected Behavior
When setting a Profile resolution and not in full screen, the expected game window resolution should match that of the profile.
Actual Behavior
The resulting game window resolution always defaults to 854 x 480.
Steps to Reproduce
With overrideWidth:0, overrideHeight:0, fullscreen:false
in options.txt:
In the Profile Editor tick Resolution and set a resolution greater than 854x480 but less than full screen.
Save the profile.
Click the Play button.

This also happens for me on 1.6.84 launcher (32-bit Vista) for any version I launch. So far I've tested 1.12.1, 1.11.2 and 1.10.2 under three separate profiles for the same user. Additionally, it happens under Linux (1.6.84-j) for 1.12.1, leading me to believe it's not dependent upon the version of Linux, purely upon the code responsible for reading the profile and setting the resolution.
Confirmed for 1.12.2 on 32bit XP, with launcher 1.6.84. The problem happens consistently on every launch for me, but it never happened with launcher version 1.6.73, which I used before today.
I can confirm this behaviour with launcher 1.6.84-j for vanilla Minecraft on Ubuntu 16.04.3, using both JDK 8u131 and 8u151.
Confirmed, Minecraft 1.12.2, Java 1.8.0_151, Debian 9.2 (Xfce).
My current workaround is to manually edit options.txt (overrideWidth:1600, overrideHeight:900), which works until I switch to fullscreen and back while in game. This resets the resolution back to the default 854 x 480. I have to quit and reload to bring the resolution back to 1600 x 900.
This issue seems to fixed with launcher 1.6.89-j
In options.txt
I've changed overrideWidth
and overrideHeight
back to 0, and even left them blank. Now the game launches in my profile resolution as it should / expected. When switching to full screen and back the correct resolution is again restored.
I have the same issue. Linux Mint 17.3, Oracle Java 1.8.0_151.
