Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 Lag Issues

Put the summary of the bug you're having here

What I expected to happen was...:
The game to run smoothly with a high FPS rate as in previous versions of Minecraft, as my computer has better than recommended specs and I have even played on worse computers in the past.

What actually happened was...:
At first the game ran as usual. But after less than a couple of minutes, my FPS plunged dramatically to less than 10. I decided to check my video settings which hadn't been changed, and although I run a 64 bit version of windows which would usually allow the game will usually run smoothly on far render distance, I decided to turn my render distance down to normal. This solved the problem for a minute and the game ran smoothly for a short time, but the FPS soon dropped again resulting in horrible lag. This happened consistently with every render distance, even when set to far again. Other people with Intel GPU's have also experienced this issue as I have found on Google.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find a computer with Intel Integrated GPU.
2. Download the latest version of Minecraft.
3. Play for a few minutes.
4. BOOM! Lag!

Experiencing the same issue. Have a laptop that uses the Intel integrated Graphics 4000. Ran with decent FPS in 1.5.2 however after the update get extremely low FPS.

Have not tested this myself, however other users have reported that this is an issues with the launcher and not the game itself. Even if they load the previous Minecraft version with the current launcher they still encounter the FPS issue.

Same problem here, and yes, if you use previous versions of the game on the new launcher, it lags.

Thanks for the feedback guys, good to know I'm not the only one. Does anyone know where I can download the previous launcher and version from, as I deleted my old copy?

I've got the same issue as well. Intel Core i7 with Intel 4000. 1.5.2 works great unless I use the new launcher. Start it up with the new one and it lags horribly after a couple minutes. You might be able to find the old launcher using the new one's URL and changing it for 1.5.2. I will give it a try later on and see.

Note that although this issue is marked as resolved it is not. This is because I have created a duplicate event to a recently linked issue. Fortunately the linked event contains much more detail and is unresolved, please vote for and watch the linked issue so that it can be noted and fixed! https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MCL-767

Caleb, I begged Marc from the Mojang team to bring the download link of old Launcher back - and he did it!

minecraft.net/download, scroll down "Older versions".
If you have a legal account, just login as usual, and it will download 1.5.2 for you.

I'm investigating alot in the lag issue for Laptops, and in case you have no dedicated GPU, then it's puzzling.

From dozens dozens dozens of users (emails + comments) I start to get the feeling that the required Hardware must be better for the New Launcher.. but I cannot believe that it is the issue.

  • If you have a dedicated GPU: Assign Minecraft to be played with that.

  • Make sure you never play on your laptop without it being attached to electricity, or your laptop might switch to the integrated GPU to save your battery.

  • Give javaw.exe in your task manager a "higher than normal" or "higher" priority.

  • Download the latest GPU drivers

  • Try to run a "smooth" texturepack, for example OCD

  • Adjust your ingame settings, mainly Video Settings, turn off clouds + sky (that shouldn't hurt), switch to Fast Graphics from Fancy, etc.

I run on Intel 3000 + dedicated GPU on my laptop, but I'm still investigating in the lag, so please bare with it.

In the meantime: Play 1.5.2 }=)

I just hope Mojang will find the cause of the Lag for those that really don't have a dedicated GPU and still experience such problems.

Going to make a "how to assign the dedicated GPU to Minecraft" video asap, but I'm overly busy already with my Tech Tuts, sorry, cannot produce any faster.

Meri

Thanks Meri, have just downloaded and is running great! Miss the new features already though.... I definitely have no dedicated GPU, the game is being run solely on my Intel 4000 integrated system, and while the old launcher is again running fine at max settings the new one would not. Hopefully the more this issue is noticed the quicker it will be resolved, your efforts are much appreciated!

It seems to be an INTEL-only problem, as far as I can tell yet, Laptops as well as Desktop Computers.

I'll ask INTEL itself next week and try to find out something.

Enough commenting on Mojira now, or the Mods get angry >.<

Seeya!

Has anyone developed a way to solve this issue, or do we have to wait till big corporate responds to us?
