Game keeps crashing every few minutes in ios.

The game is functioning fine. All of my background apps are closed out; my cache for the minecraft game is clear, but every few minutes it will kick me out of the game, sending me back to the home screen of my device. It is also lagging quite a bit, especially when having gaming features such as mining, fishing, fighting mobs, etc.. I have updated to the current hotfix for iOS, claiming that it has fixed the crashing issue, but it has made it worse and more frequent.
