I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug or not, but all 3 chest variants appear as full blocks without that knob sticking out when seen on the hotbar or in the inventory.

We're actually already tracking this issue at MCPE-7990, so I will resolve and link this ticket as a duplicate.
That ticket has already been resolved as Won't Fix, which means this is considered a bug but won't be fixed. The description of that ticket or the comments might explain the rationale. Please do not leave a comment on the linked ticket.
