Cannot Connect to Other People's Worlds (even when using the same wifi)!!

(Btw I have the Minecraft PE app and the version is 0.12.1 Alpha not Beta)

I have been trying for the past 3 days, since I got the latest minecraft update, to connect to my brother's world but have had no luck. I can usually connect within 10 seconds but it is taking 3 days and there are still no positive results. We have both turned off our iPads and restarted them and also been turning the local multiplayer button on and off but nothing has changed or happened. We both have iPad Air 2's so connecting to different devices wouldn't be a problem. There hasn't been a problem (besides bad wifi in the past) with connecting to our different worlds. I have also tried to add his world as an external server but there is still no luck as I don't know the port etc.

Can someone please help me?! I would really appreciate it if someone could reply really soon! Thanks 😄

Please triple check that you both have the exact same version of MCPE. As experienced in MCPE-10679, devices with different MCPE versions in your network cannot connect to each other.

This glitch happened to me around a month ago now. I couldn't connect to any servers when using the same wifi for up to 4 weeks. I'm guessing you'll be waiting a while before you'll be able to connect again, but hopefully some tips below will help:

  • Turnnoff your wifi completely (literally turn it off at the powerpoint)

  • Put both iPads onto aeroplane mode for 5 minutes

  • Try restarting your iPads and leave them both turned off for 10 minutes

  • Refresh your Minecraft app (double tap the home button and refresh it on BOTH iPads. When you can't connect, get the person hosting the sever to refresh their app and then do the same.)
    Hope this helps! 🌻
