when flying straight up in creative mode you can fly into a block. You fly up and get your head in the block, you cannot move around, you can exit the block by flying down again.
(edit: this is also possible in survival and adventure. It isn't always possible and I haven't figured out under which circumstances it is and under which it isn't)
