Ink sacs in realms most of the time don´t work as intended. Either you cannot convert it to black dye or it is unable to dye blocks such as terracotta. Though, it dyes beds black as per usual. It also works completely normal on regular multiplayer worlds. Yes, I have used a crafting table.

To add on, I´ve received these ink sacs from wandering traders and my theory is that the game doesn´t recognize the inc sacs are there. This is because I cannot convert them to black dye and also when I wanted to trade them the librarian it said I did not have any even though I carried two stacks of them. This is very inconvenient as I am trying to build a structure with black teracotta but it simply won´t work.
